Privacy Policy

Your coffee savings are yours.

Last updated July 28, 2026. Bean Counter is designed to work without ads or third-party analytics.

What Bean Counter stores

Bean Counter stores the coffee entries you log, price snapshots, goals, settings, reminders, achievement progress, and private Coffee Passport collection needed to provide the app. Passport records can include coffee details, ratings, personal tasting notes, purchase details, and a photo you choose to attach. This information is stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database.

iCloud and sync

Sync uses Apple's CloudKit service and your Apple Account. Bean Counter does not create a separate account, run its own database server, or provide your private coffee history to other users.

Optional public Short Reviews

For a matched catalog coffee, you may choose to share a Short Review publicly. Sharing is off by default. When you turn it on, Bean Counter sends only the coffee’s catalog identifier, your star rating, and the Short Review text to the Bean Counter catalog service so other users can see aggregate ratings and approved reviews. Your personal tasting notes, Passport photo, purchase details, savings records, and iCloud identity are not shared. Public reviews are screened before display, rate limited, and can be withdrawn by turning sharing off.

Photos permission

If you choose to save an achievement badge, Bean Counter requests add-only access to your Photos library. The permission is used only to save the image you selected. Bean Counter does not read your photo library. A Passport photo is selected or captured only when you choose to add one, and is kept in your private Passport record rather than uploaded to the public catalog service.

Backups and sharing

When you export a backup or share a badge, you choose the destination through Apple's system sharing tools. Bean Counter does not receive a copy of files or content you choose to share.

Support requests

If you contact Bean Counter through the support form, you may provide your email address and message. This information is used only to respond to your request. The form is provided through Google Forms and is subject to Google's privacy practices.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Bean Counter does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. It does not sell personal information.

Your controls

You can edit or delete individual coffees, reset logged coffees, disable reminders, export a backup, remove a Passport photo, turn a public Short Review off, and control iCloud or Photos permission in device settings. Resetting logged coffees removes those synced records from your other devices using the same private iCloud data.
